Another mad overnight baking effort followed by a dash to Westminster at 5 in the morning with a large box of hot bread (much to the London commuters amusement). On arrival in London & after a slight detour on foot in the wrong direction, with a thick film of flour (Shipton Mill of course) still clinging to his clothes, Dominic arrived at his destiny……….I mean destination. A small function room in the Westminster building. He handed over his bread offering to the Gods of bread for their opinion of his efforts.
A nail biting week later brought the fruits of his labour. One category winner and a Gold award for his Stroud Big Cat sourdough in the speciality category. Runner up in the Show Stopper category & a silver award for the Cheltenham Breakfast loaf (this loaf achieved a bronze award in 2013). A gold for the Beetroot & blue cheese Focaccia. A Bronze for his Nettle & roast onion sourdough. Not a bad Haul for a hard nights work and months of development. All this bread is baked every Friday in the shop and can also be brought at the Cheltenham Farmers Market on the first and last Friday of the month.
The awards entitled Dom to attend the Harvest award supper held in St Marks Church High Park Crescent. There was a small service followed by a ploughman supper and sweet course and then the awards. Fantastic to have recognition of your efforts. Well done Dom.
